Growing Our Own

Food

--gardens, orchards, berry patches, chicken coops--

1st Ever West Contra Costa County

City Homestead

Tour

Saturday, October 10th 2009

noon to 3

More and more people are growing more and more of their own food right at home:  vegetables, fruit, berries, chickens, eggs, and honey.

See what your neighbors are doing and get inspired!  You don’t need a farm to have a homestead.

You can view food gardens at all stages of development from newly established to mature, and in all sizes from tiny front yards to large backyards.  You can see chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, and bees living happily in urban (or semi-urban) backyards, and food plants tucked amongst natives or traditional cottage flower gardens.

Note:  Each person should be registered separately under her/his own name.  This will save you time and trouble when signing in at the gardens.
